Subcontractor Advocate Award

Phoenix, AZ. – The American Subcontractors Association (ASA) honored the local Phoenix-based chapter and several of its members at its annual awards dinner in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, March 8, held in conjunction with ASA’s annual national convention, SUBExcel 2019. SUBExcel is the premier education and networking event for specialty trade contractors and suppliers to subcontractors in the construction industry.

The American Subcontractors Association of Arizona (ASA of Arizona) received the newest national award, the “Subcontractor Advocate Award,” for the chapter’s “Arizonans for Fair Contracting” advocacy coalition efforts. This new advocate award spotlights organizations and individuals who dedicate themselves to advocate before government on behalf of construction subcontractors, specialty trade contractors, and suppliers. On hand to receive the award were ASA of Arizona CEO Carol Floco, immediate Past President and Arizonans for Fair Contracting Chair Scott Petre (Banker Insulation), Vice President Mike Brewer (Brewer Companies), and Jeff Banker (Banker Insulation).

ASA Task Force on Ethics in the Construction Industry Chair Shannon MacArthur, MEMCO, Spring, TX., and Walter Bazan Jr., Bazan Paiting Company, St. Louis, MO., a member of the task force and an ASA past national president, announced the awards. Other awards presented to ASA of Arizona members during the ceremony were:

President’s Award

ASA President Courtney Little, ACE Glass Construction, Little Rock, AR., named Jeff Banker, Banker Insulation, Chandler, AZ., recipient of the ASA President’s Award, which is given on a discretionary basis to an individual who has helped the president the most during his or her term. Banker served as national ASA president in 2018-2018 and 2009-2010 ASA of Arizona chapter president.

ASA Certificate of Excellence in Ethics

Fourteen companies nationwide earned an ASA Certificate of Excellence in Ethics for their commitment to ASA values including quality construction, ethical business practices, and a safe and healthy work environment. Three of those honored are ASA of Arizona member firms that have received his honor multiple years in a row: Banker Insulation (Chandler, AZ.), EyeSite Surveillance, Inc. (Chandler, AZ.), and Markham Contracting Company, Inc. (Phoenix, AZ.).
