Last week we shared that Senate President Karen Fann introduced SB1271 – the bill number is the same as last year – and that we were waiting on information regarding the committee assignment for the bill and a hearing date. We have since received word that the bill has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which meets at 9:00 AM on Thursday mornings.
The bill was not calendared to be heard this coming Thursday, February 7, but it is anticipated that it will be scheduled to be heard on either February 14 or February 21. The agenda is released five days in advance, which means we should know this Friday, February 8 if SB1271 is on the agenda for next week. As soon as we know, we will let you know.
Here is what we need: We need to get a mass showing of industry supporters to join us at the Capitol for the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing to impress upon the committee members and other legislators how important this issue is to Arizona’s trade contractor industry. As much as is possible, we ask that you pencil the committee meeting into your calendar for both dates. Come as you are from the office or field, wear your safety vest, and bring along additional company team members to join us as one united VOICE. We need and greatly appreciate your support.
