FOCUS: Acts as a steering committee to: develop/implement a proactive government relations program at the state and local levels, monitor and drive legislative reform, serve as the association’s legislative liaison, and direct grassroots efforts. Especially with regard to local/municipal arenas, the ASA Committee per se will work to identify and vet candidates for endorsement. The group drives the association’s activities via Arizonans for Fair Contracting, a 501c6 dedicated to advancing the legislative interests of subcontractors. It meets on an ad hoc basis. The AFC donor steering committee meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday during the legislative session.
FOCUS: Membership is the lifeblood of ASA. As such, this committee develops/implements strategies to recruit, onboard, & retain members. They also develop prospective member referrals and coordinate prospective member outreach. Their marketing work aims to maximize ASA’s presence and brand in Arizona’s construction market. They are active in helping with social media & PR efforts. This committee is indispensable to increasing our profile with prospects, as well as to communicating our value/successes to current members. The group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the afternoon.
FOCUS: Events are the backbone of our closeknit ASA community. This team plans and implements a calendar of networking/social events, general member meetings, special events (golf tournament, bowling tournament, etc.), and fundraising. They meet monthly via a 2nd Thursday conference call and in person on a quarterly basis.
Partners In Construction (PIC) is a regular forum for subcontractors and ASA’s general contractor partners to discuss issues of mutual concern affecting the construction team. The goal of the group is to develop open communications and improve the relationship between subcontractors and general contractors, as well as identify and discuss industry trends and challenges, educational needs, and areas of improvement to promote beneficial relationships.

FOCUS: An every other month forum for residential subcontractors to discuss issues affecting the marketplace and construction team, including safety, wage and hour issues, and industry advocacy challenges. The group has regular interaction with ADOSH and meets periodically group with Home Builder representatives to discuss mutual concerns, industry trends, education needs, and challenges impacting the home-building industry.
FOCUS: A forum open to all members of the construction industry for company leaders and safety professionals to monitor and discuss issues and regulations that impact health and safety industry-wide, interact directly with ADOSH director and assistant director, plan and organize safety training opportunities based on members’ needs, review/discuss safety best practices, etc. All ASA member firms are eligible to participate in the chapter’s ASA of Arizona Member Partnership Program (AAMPP) with ADOSH. The group generally meets the 2nd Wednesday every other month, with allowances made for in-person trainings.
FOCUS: The aim of this committee is to ensure ASA of AZ creates a welcoming environment for women in construction—especially in the trades per se. Meetings will serve as a peer group, where topics of relevance to women in the industry can be discussed frankly and openly, and resources and best practices shared. The work of the group will inform every aspect of ASA operations, and members will liaise with almost all other committees regularly to make sure their efforts are inclusive. They will have opportunities to interface with other industry stakeholders as well, with the goal of making the industry itself a more attractive place for women to find careers. They meet on an ad hoc basis.
FOCUS: This committee is tasked with designing and implementing our chapter’s educational programming, including ASA University. Its activities constitute a core part of our mission and value proposition for members, and the long-term goal of the group is to develop and implement a curriculum of repeating/progressive courses that are linked to industry standard credentials. It meets on the 2nd Tuesday afternoon of each month.

FOCUS: This committee will take an active role in helping develop the next generation of tradespeople. Its focus will be industry-wide, but its aim is to help our members connect with and hire prospects. Members will manage workforce partnerships with stakeholders across the state, including other nonprofits and educational institutions. Opportunities will be available to volunteer at career fairs (e.g. AZCCD) and mentorship programs as well. The group meets the 4th Friday at 9:00 a.m.
